Beginning Fall 2013, the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures will offer a master’s degree in East Asian Languages and Cultures. Our faculty comprised of distinguished scholars will offer courses and training in the humanities disciplines of literature, history, religion, linguistics and language. This program is designed for students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. degree in the U.S. as well as for those who wish to develop a general interest in East Asian humanities and cultures. Rutgers was recently ranked as #9 among U.S. universities for arts and humanities (Times Higher Education, U.K., 2012).

The China Research Project at Rutgers
The Department of Asian Languages and Cultures announces the launch of a new three-year research project to promote the study of China. The project includes the China Lecture Series, which brings to Rutgers distinguished and innovative scholars to speak about their latest research, and the China Humanities Seminars, which aim at advancing scholarship and discourse on China through a series of workshops devoted to new and significant themes. CIC Membership to Augment East Asian Studies
Rutgers University has been admitted to the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC), beginning July 1, 2013. The CIC is the prestigious academic consortium whose membership includes all Big Ten institutions and the University of Chicago. A CIC membership will greatly expand Rutgers faculty and students’ access to library materials in East Asian studies. The CIC universities collectively engage in $9.3 billion in funded research and own more than 100 million library volumes.
