Modern Chinese Prose
Taipei: Pyramid Press, 1992
Translated by Richard VanNess Simmons
This is a small collection of well-known and beloved Chinese short stories. The book includes the original Chinese texts with English translations on the facing pages. The volume includes such favorites as “Cōng cōng” [Helter-Skelter] by Zhū Zìqīng, “Luò huā shēng” [Peanuts] by Xǔ Dìshān, “Wǒ de mǔqīn” [My Mother] by Hú Shì, and many others. It is a nice introduction to timeless classics.
