According to the Division of Educational Programs and Assessment of the DOE, a prospective candidate for teacher certification in Chinese has to complete 30 credits in the subject area, which in this case would be Chinese. See: http://www.state.nj.us/njded/aps/cccs/wl/guide.htm and http://www.state.nj.us/njded/aps/cccs/wl/ These 30 credits in the subject area can be earned by taking upper level 3-credit courses in the original language given in the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at Rutgers University. The following is a list of courses at the 300 to 400 levels that are regularly taught in Chinese in the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at Rutgers University. All the courses below earn 3 credits each. Any combination of 10 of the 16 courses when offered would add up to 30 credits.

The remaining 18 credits, in the subject area can be earned by taking six upper level 3-cedit courses in the original language given in the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at Rutgers University.
