Description: Principles, techniques, and art of Chinese calligraphy; techniques of using the Chinese writing brush, writing styles, and construction of Chinese characters. No previous knowledge of Chinese is necessary. For Chinese language students, recommended to be taken simultaneously with 01:165:101.

Prerequisites: None 

Semesters Offered: Fall, Spring and Summer 

Topics: Execution of individual strokes, construction of Chinese characters, acquisition of understanding and appreciation of the aesthetics of Chinese calligraphy and its role in Chinese culture

Expected Work: Regular attendance, final scroll writings, weekly assignments

Exams: Midterm exam and Final Exam
